POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Martin Foot and Ankle is recruiting for an upbeat and enthusiastic Human Resources Intern to work on a part-time basis in the Human Resources department. This is an exciting opportunity for a student to gain real world experience for their resume and connections in the professional HR world before graduation. The Human Resources Intern will be responsible for assisting the Human Resources Manager with administrative tasks such as filing, preparing benefit enrollment packets, preparing new hire orientation, organizing and tracking personnel files, conducting phone interviews, reference checking, updating job postings and other clerical duties as assigned. Other special projects, like updating job descriptions, assisting in setting up compensation structures, participating in open enrollment meetings and job fairs will be based on the students interests and abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • A pleasant demeanor, positive attitude and outgoing personality;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of general office procedures;
  • Superb computer skills (specifically in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint);
  • Previous experience working in an office environment is a plus;
  • Current enrollment in an undergrad or graduate program focused on HR is required;
  • An understanding of basic employment law is strongly preferred; and an,
  • Ability to start working in May/June and continue throughout the school year is required.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

This position is a paid internship and will begin as soon as possible. The internship may last until the student graduates from college (working through the summer and school year). The student will be required to work 10-20 hours per week (based on the work load) but the schedule will be flexible; working anytime Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm.
