BalanceDon’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone? Unfortunately, when it comes to balance, knowing when you’ve lost it often comes with a painful and potentially damaging trip to the ground. Balance is one of those elements that’s much more effective to build up and maintain through life for when you need it, but there’s definitely still time to make a difference if you feel your overall stability is beginning to falter.

There are a number of simple, helpful exercises one can perform in their own home to help improve balance. These include standing on one leg, walking heel to toe, and even doing squats. If you want to get more complex, you might want to consider using a wobble board or even taking up tai chi or ballet! The key is to not only build strength in the feet, ankles, and legs, but to improve the way your body communicates with itself, too—your coordination.

Do you feel like you could use some personalized help on finding the best balance exercises for you? Our Wellness Program is just the thing for you! One of our trainers can help you design an affordable, individual program for your needs. You can come and take advantage of our facilities whenever we’re open with no appointment, or take what you’ve learned and employ it at home instead.
