Martin Foot and Ankle is an 11-physician podiatry group with an additional surgical fellow. As the largest provider of foot and ankle care in Central Pennsylvania, we maintain foot and ankle privileges at all hospitals and surgical centers in the area, and we have five offices in South Central Pennsylvania.

Like all the other medical private practices around, we have endured difficulties and have had to make some harsh choices to keep offices open. Understanding the realities of COVID-19, we have taken all the maximum precautionary measures to ensure our doctors, staff, and, most importantly, our patients are safe. With this in mind, Martin Foot and Ankle is still open and treating patients during this pandemic.

We have created additional "emergency visits" within our daily office schedules to provide for acute patients, preventing the need for them to integrate themselves in hospitals. We have an on-site x-ray if needed, which allows us to x-ray the affected lower extremity following an acute injury. We can manage sprains, strains, fractures in the acute setting as well as localized infections/wounds, which will prevent patients from needing hospital admission or ER visits during this health crisis.

We have also begun to offer telemedicine, when appropriate, for our patients. Additionally, we continue to follow and abide by the recommendations laid out by the CDC regarding patient safety and the safety of our office staff.

Until now, all elective surgeries were on hold. However, elective procedures will now begin in phases! To mitigate risk, we will conduct enhanced screening of surgical patients, accept a decreased volume of cases, and implement social distancing in waiting rooms and pre and post-op areas. Additionally, we will be taking advanced cleaning measures and increasing the rotation of staff in our high-risk areas. Soon, we will be calling our patients to begin elective surgery scheduling slowly. Thank you for your patience.

As you know, our physicians annually train in the latest reconstructive surgical techniques, and technologies, and we continue to expand our treatment options. We also have our own in-house physical therapy department with licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. They are trained and specialized in the rehabilitation and management of lower extremity care.

We look forward to taking care of your foot and ankle needs. Please call us at 717-757-3537 to schedule an appointment.

Sincerely,

The Martin Foot and Ankle Team
